Porto Leading Investor NTT Data strengthens its presence in the city
In 2022, NTT DATA Portugal, announced the opening of two new technology centers in the city. Now, the company, part of the Japanese multinational consulting and information technology services company, NTT, has revealed that it will strengthen its presence in Porto with the installation of three new specialized knowledge hubs and the creation of 90 jobs.
The three
new hubs - NextGen Core Banking, Data Engineering, and Microsoft BizApps - join
three existing ones in Porto, indicating a renewed drive for the consultancy to
develop and grow specialized teams with sector-specific or technological
expertise," Paulo Silva, partner and head of emerging business areas and
delivery models at NTT DATA Portugal, told ECO.
"We are very proud to be expanding our presence in
Porto, doubling the number of hubs, but also because this news signals a
reinforcement of our commitment to talent in the north, where we know there are
distinguished professionals capable of supporting us in the development of
innovation and technology-based projects in the areas of management and
engineering. This is also a way for us to help retain highly qualified talent
in Portugal," he added.
Despite being independent structures, the Porto hubs are
located in the same workspace: LACS Porto (located on Rua de Azevedo Coutinho,
in Ramalde). The three new spaces are joined by the Center of Excellence &
Competence OutSystems Porto, the High Performance Center Porto and the
Insurance Service Hub.
"Although we're bringing the six hubs together in the
same space, each one has a purpose in terms of specialization (...). Both
national and international clients are increasingly looking for specialization
to the detriment of delivery capacity. This is the purpose behind the creation
of these structures," said Paulo Silva.
NTT Data has 15 hubs spread across a dozen locations
in Portugal and expects to double its turnover to six million euros by 2025.
From the north to the south of the country, the Japanese technology company
currently employs 1,700 people.
