UZU opens new Porto headquarters to real estate innovation

UZU has officially inaugurated its new headquarters in Porto, marking a key milestone in the company’s international expansion. Located on Avenida do Brasil in Foz do Douro, the space gathered investors, partners, and leading figures from the property sector for an exclusive opening event that highlighted UZU’s commitment to innovation and proximity within the Portuguese market.

The American startup selected Portugal as the base for its pilot project, focused on developing and consolidating a pioneering model of structured usufruct. This solution enables homeowners to sell their properties while continuing to live in them safely and legally, offering a blend of liquidity, financial stability, and quality of life. According to Casemiro Ramos, UZU’s Executive Director in Portugal, the opening represents "more than the launch of an office”, it marks the beginning of a new phase built on credibility, purpose, and closeness to clients.

The newly opened headquarters was conceived as both an operational hub and a business centre of excellence. UZU’s digital marketplace facilitates property transactions with usufruct reservation and is supported by robust legal expertise from TELLES and strategic collaboration with Century 21 Arquitectos.

Joana Resende, CEO of Century 21 Arquitectos, praised the initiative as a human-centred response to a pressing societal challenge, supporting older generations’ financial needs while allowing them to remain in their homes.
