UPTEC startup Astrolabium launches AI platform for efficient energy risk control
Astrolabium has launched an AI platform, PowerNavigator, to help energy SMEs handle price volatility and make smarter buying and hedging decisions
A UPTEC-incubated startup, Astrolabium, has developed an AI-powered platform, PowerNavigator, designed to help energy-sector companies improve risk management and reduce costs. The AI-driven platform provides users with full-market simulations, identifying optimal moments to buy, sell or hedge energy.
PowerNavigator responds to the significant price volatility in the Iberian energy market, enabling SMEs to make smarter buying and hedging decisions without needing a dedicated risk team. Drawing on weather forecasts and over a decade of market data, the platform runs 10,000 possible price scenarios to deliver a detailed probability distribution of future market conditions. This enables companies to anticipate risks more effectively and make informed decisions that safeguard their margins.

The startup argues that such sophisticated quantitative tools, traditionally accessible only to large financial institutions, can now be leveraged by smaller players in the energy sector. Founded by Lobão de Almeida, with a background in quantitative finance, and Reha Dişçioğlu, an experienced B2B SaaS professional, Astrolabium’s mission is to empower SMEs in the energy industry with intelligent, easy-to-use risk management technologies.
PowerNavigator is currently available in Portugal and Spain, offering energy producers and suppliers a practical way to plan ahead, optimise operations and reduce exposure to market uncertainty.
