University of Porto Leads with Several of the Highest Entrance Scores in Portugal
Out of the top 10 courses with the highest entrance scores, 6 are offered by the University of Porto. The top students are choosing Porto, with nearly 99% of spots filled in the first application phase.
Porto continues to be a magnet for talent, as evidenced right from the start of the higher education admissions process. In the first application phase for the 2024/25 academic year, the University of Porto stood out with the highest entrance scores in the country, dominating the list of courses with the top entry marks.
The Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering registered the highest average all of the courses available in the country, with the lowest entry score being 19.45.
The University of Porto has six courses in the top 10 highest entrance scores. In addition to Aerospace Engineering, standout programmes include the Bachelor's degrees in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (18.75 points), Industrial Engineering and Management (18.63), and the integrated master's degrees in Architecture (18.60), Medicine at the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (18.55), and Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine (18.48).
Among the top 25 courses with the highest entrance scores, 14 belong to the University of Porto. Bachelor's degrees in Management (18.35), Law (18.22), Bioengineering (18.18), Languages and International Relations (18.14), Drawing (18.05), Digital Health and Biomedical Innovation (17.90), Mechanical Engineering (17.88), and Communication Design (17.85) are part of this top 25.
When considering all entrance scores across all courses in Portugal, the University of Porto stands out once again. It has the highest average entrance score among Portuguese public universities, standing at 16.75 points, two more points than in 2023.
Despite these high averages, nearly all of the spots at the University of Porto were filled during the first application phase. Of the 4,781 available spots, only 72 remained unfilled.
