University of Porto highlighted in Times Higher Education rankings
U. Porto stood out as the best university in Portugal in more than half of the rankings that make up "THE World University Rankings 2025 by subject".

The University of Porto is the best-ranked Portuguese institution in six of the eleven rankings that make up Times Higher Education's "THE World University Rankings 2025 by subject", an annual initiative that highlights the best higher education institutions in the world across various scientific areas.
With a firm place in the ranking since its 2017 edition, this year U. Porto consolidated the historic performance achieved in last year's edition, when it appeared for the first time in all the eleven rankings of the initiative.
U. Porto registered its best position in Education, between 101st and 125th in the world. Compared to last year's edition, the University also recorded increases in Law (now among the 176-200 best) and in Social Sciences (among the 251-300 best). As far as the other fields were concerned, U. Porto registered a place between the 251st and 300th positions in Arts and Humanities and in Medicine & Health, being also in the top positions in Computer Science, Life Sciences, Engineering, and Psychology (301-400), Management and Economics (401-500), and Physical Sciences (501-600).
Compared to the other Portuguese higher education institutions in the ranking, U. Porto thus stood out as the leader in more than half of the fields evaluated. Besides leading the Computer Science, Education, and Medicine & Health subject rankings on its own, the University is also the national leader, ex aequo, in the areas of Life Sciences, Social Sciences, and Engineering.
Considered to be one of the main barometers for higher education at an international level, these rankings are based on eighteen indicators divided into five fundamental components: relations with industry, international outlook, teaching, research environment, and research quality over the previous five years.
