As part of its European-wide expansion, The Social Hub recently opened its first four-star hotel in Portugal, in the city of Porto. With an innovative hybrid approach to hospitality, The Social Hub Porto aims to foster the local community of digital nomads and young professionals, while also providing a haven for locals, students, and overall visitors to meet and relax.

With a privileged location in Bonjardim, right in the heart of Porto's dynamic cultural life, The Social Hub arrives in the city with a project designed to generate value for the local community. The space includes 310 rooms (271 four-star hotel rooms and 39 residential apartments with a maximum of 2 bedrooms), a rooftop, a courtyard and garden open to the public, a rooftop swimming pool and cocktail bar with panoramic views, a restaurant, a full service gym and more. These spaces were designed to integrate the different members of the Hub's community, offering them experiences and resources adapted to their specific needs.

Around 580 square metres of coworking space are also available, for up to almost 100 people, including 10 private offices. In addition, The Social Hub Porto has almost 450 square metres of flexible space for meetings and events, including an auditorium with the capacity for more than 250 guests.

An investment of around 60 million euros, The Social Hub Porto is the twentieth establishment of this hybrid hotel brand from Amsterdam, founded in 2012 by Charlie MacGregor. It has also created more than 30 direct new jobs in the city.

"This hub has a very special meaning for us, because it marks our entry into a new market: Portugal. It was very gratifying to be able to start off on the right foot in a city like Porto and to have had the opportunity to create new synergies and work very closely with the municipal government, which understood the importance of sustainable development and has always embraced our unique model for improving the city centre," said Marion Koopman, Chief Operations & Commercial Officer of The Social Hub.

The project offers a dynamic environment that welcomes a strong and diverse community of travelers, locals, entrepreneurs, and students, allowing them to share spaces, experiences, and ideas. Thanks to its unique model, geared towards creating communities and generating an effective social impact, the Hub will also amplify its commitment with its newly acquired B Corp status.

The Social Hub Porto will offer more than 200 experiences a year, both for guests and for the city's locals, including partnerships with organizations in the region for a variety of programmes and initiatives: cooking workshops, vintage markets, sporting events, and cultural sessions with local artists.
