Porto Tech 2024: The City as a Technological Hub
From September to November, the city of Porto will host more than 20 technology-related events, strengthening its position as the epicenter of innovation and entrepreneurship in Portugal.
Porto is preparing itself for another edition of Porto Tech, an initiative promoted by the Porto City Council and aimed at consolidating the city as one of the main technological hubs in Portugal. After the success of last year’s edition, which featured three weeks of activities, this year's edition will be even more ambitious and will extend for over three months – from September to November –, with the participation of more entities and an agenda full of workshops, conferences, and hackathons.
The first edition was a significant milestone for the city, attracting more than four thousand participants and establishing Porto as a reference center in the technology sector. This year, Porto Tech promises to be even bigger, reflecting the continued growth and robustness of the city's entrepreneurship ecosystem. The initiative will bring together local and international players in the areas of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Deeptech, and Startups, offering a unique platform for networking and skills development.
Porto Tech is a celebration of the vibrant technological and entrepreneurial communities that give life to the city. For Ricardo Valente, City Councilor for Economy, Employment, and Entrepreneurship, "Porto is a natural meeting point for these innovative minds and, through this initiative, we reinforce our commitment to position the city as a renowned national and international technological hub. We want Porto to continue to be a central stage for the development of ideas, projects, and partnerships that boost the city's economy".
The 2024 edition officially starts on September 19th, with a Porto Tech meetup in partnership with DeHouse Trindade, dedicated to the Web3 theme. In the following months, two more meetups are scheduled, in October and November, in partnership with Portuguese Women in Tech (PWIT) and Founders Founders, respectively. These meetings will be co-organized by ScaleUp Porto.
