The municipality highlights affordable rental and student housing projects, focusing on public-private partnerships to attract investment
Porto attended MIPIM, one of the most important international gatherings dedicated to real estate investment and urban development, where it presented strategies and projects aimed at increasing the housing supply and promoting investment in the city and the region.
In Cannes, the Councilor for Economy and Entrepreneurship, Hugo Beirão attended the event accompanied by representatives from Porto Vivo, SRU, and Greater Porto, delivering two presentations focused on urban policies aimed at territorial regeneration and the creation of new housing solutions.
One of the presentations highlighted the "
Build to Rent” model, developed under the municipal program
Porto com Sentido and managed by Porto Vivo and SRU. The pilot project, Jardins do Oriente, involves the construction of 124 affordable rental units through a public-private partnership model.
This mechanism is based on the municipality leasing the housing units, which it then subleases to families, thereby mobilizing private investment while ensuring affordable rents.
