Porto Economy Award opens applications for fifth edition
Applications are now open for the fifth edition of the Porto Economy Award, an initiative organised by the Municipality of Porto to recognise outstanding academic research and promote evidence-based knowledge that contributes to the city’s sustainable economic development.
Academic
dissertations and other original research projects may be submitted until 31
July, with three monetary prizes totalling €5,500 to be awarded to
the highest-ranked entries. The initiative encourages research into the local
and regional economy, generating evidence that can inform public policy and
support Porto’s future development.
Submissions
may address a broad range of themes with a direct impact on Porto’s economic
and social development, including demographics, business dynamics, sustainable
development, the social economy, real estate, macroeconomics, healthcare,
talent attraction and retention, and tourism.
The winning
dissertation will receive a €3,000 prize, while the second- and
third-ranked submissions will be awarded €1,500 and €1,000,
respectively.
Entries will
be assessed by a jury comprising representatives from the Portuguese
Business Association (AEP), the Northern Regional Delegation of the
Portuguese Economists’ Association, Católica Porto Business School,
the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto, the Faculty of
Economic and Business Sciences of Universidade Lusíada, and Universidade
Portucalense Infante D. Henrique.
Submissions
will be evaluated according to their social and economic relevance, originality,
scientific quality, potential for knowledge transfer and practical application
to Porto’s context, as well as the clarity and overall quality of the writing.
