Fórum Porto de Economia confirms the city's desire to be more prosperous, inclusive and vibrant
A city that, using the words of Italo Calvino, "continues, through the years and mutations, to give shape to desires" is the message that the dozens of people, including businesspeople, entrepreneurs, academics and other economic agents, who attended the first edition of the Porto de Economia forum, are taking into the future. Quoting the author of "The Invisible Cities", the City Council for Economy, Employment and Entrepreneurship urged everyone to continue "working together to build an even more prosperous, inclusive and vibrant Porto".

"Looking
back on the progress we've made, and looking ahead to the promising future that
awaits our city, we can be truly proud of what we've achieved together,"
said Ricardo Valente, at the closing moment of a full day dedicated to
debating, sharing and building Porto's economic dynamism.
Among the significant milestones, the Councillor considers that "the increase in foreign direct investment, the monitoring of projects by InvestPorto and the international recognition of Porto as a welcoming city for investors are testimony to our success".
[The
investment figures] are not just statistics. They represent lives
transformed, businesses flourishing and communities growing".
For Ricardo Valente, the figures for the projects, the amounts invested and the jobs created "are not just statistics. They represent lives transformed, businesses flourishing and communities growing".
"They are a testament to the power of collaboration
between the public and private sectors and the unwavering commitment of
everyone involved to building a prosperous future for our city and
region," he added.
Talent was
also highlighted by the Councillor, both in terms of the attraction and
retention strategy and the empowerment of the migrant community in Porto. Finally,
Ricardo Valente stressed how "the flourishing ecosystem of startups and
scaleups is further proof of our economic dynamism".
However,
the City Councillor doesn't forget, "we can't help but recognize the
challenges we still face" such as "unemployment, although declining, remains
a concern, and it is crucial that we continue to work together to create job
opportunities and promote inclusive and sustainable growth" Ricardo Valente concluded.
