Blip in the spotlight during TEDxPorto

TEDxPorto recently took place and Blip, a proud Porto Leading Investor, was in the spotlight as one of the event's official sponsors.

The internationally-renowned Portuguese IT company, specialized in the development of software engineering solutions for sports betting and gaming, provided an immersive experience for participants during the event, through an interactive studio and four inspiring talks that explored how technology can shape a better future.

The Blip studio hosted a dynamic space where visitors had the chance to try out the technologies of tomorrow. Through practical demonstrations and direct interactions, the public was challenged to reflect on the impact of technology and its potential to answer today's big questions.

The four talks organized by the company, on the other hand, brought new perspectives and stimulated debate on the role technology will have in the future. Led by several experts, each talk explored "The Big (Tech) Question” in a unique and engaging way, promoting deep and inspiring reflection. In an official statement made after the event, Blip highlighted that these talks confirmed what the company already knew, that "people are the center of everything: the big [tech] question has a small human answer."

The Municipality of Porto was also present in TEDxPorto through TERA, the local Talent division, reinforcing the importance of attracting, developing, and retaining talent in the city. The team's strategy strives to position Porto as a vibrant ecosystem, capable of fostering critical thinking, questioning the status quo and thinking up solutions to global challenges.

Municipal company Porto Ambiente was also present, bringing to the fore the municipality's mission of achieving local carbon neutrality by 2030, while also taking the opportunity to showcase EcoPorto, a project that promotes good circular economy practices.

The Porto Climate Pact was also on the agenda, with members of the carbon neutrality team challenging participants to sign up to the pact and underscoring the impact that small, everyday gestures can have towards the creation of a carbon neutral city. The pact, presented in September 2022, already has around 280 institutional signatories from a wide range of areas.

Until 2030, the Municipality of Porto has a series of measures underway in strategic areas that include reinforcing green spaces, investing in the production and sharing of renewable energy, increasing sustainable mobility, increasing the efficiency of buildings, promoting energy savings, investing in intelligent LED lighting, and greater circularity. In this regard, Porto was also selected by the European Commission to join the group of 100 Climate Neutral and Smart Cities, consolidating its leadership at both a national and European level in terms of climate action.
