Porto-based Savearth raises €400,000 to expand water-saving technology for hospitality
UPTEC-incubated startup strengthens growth in Portugal and Spain
Savearth, a startup incubated at UPTEC – Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto, has raised €400,000 from 10 investors to accelerate the development of its technology focused on reducing water consumption in the hospitality sector.
The investment will support the company’s expansion in Portugal and Spain, while also reinforcing its team and scaling operations.
Savearth has developed a solution that uses intelligent sound analysis to measure shower water consumption in real time, helping hotels encourage more sustainable behaviour among guests without requiring construction works or invasive hardware installations.
According to CEO João Machado, "This investment validates what we are building and the urgency of the problem we are tackling. The hospitality industry needs solutions that reduce waste, improve efficiency and support ESG goals, without compromising the guest experience.”
The startup already works with several major hotel groups in Portugal and currently has more than 30 hotels on its waiting list. By the end of the year, Savearth aims to reach 8,000 rooms across Portugal and Spain.
The funding round included investors such as Laika Ventures, as well as hospitality and technology sector executives. Last year, the company also won the Portuguese edition of the ClimateLaunchpad competition.
