Natixis transforms Porto into a hub of financial innovation
RH Magazine · 01 Sep 2025
In just seven years, Porto Leading Investor Natixis has grown from a three-digit team to more than 2,500 employees, establishing itself as a true Centre of Excellence in the banking and technology sector.

The company's establishment in Porto in 2017 was strategic, based on the quality of the local workforce, foreign language skills, proximity to France, and a multicultural environment conducive to innovation.

Natixis' growth exceeded all initial expectations: the target of 600 employees in three years was quickly surpassed. Today, it employs professionals from 40 different nationalities, representing 20% of its workforce, which reinforces its role as an international talent hub within Groupe BPCE, one of the largest French banking groups.

Natixis' Human Resources policy has been decisive in this journey. Continuous training, a culture of feedback, innovation, and flexible benefits are the pillars that support the well-being and professional development of the company's employees. Among the most recent initiatives are the Honolulu Wellness Club, reskilling academies, Tech Dojos, leadership and language programmes, as well as partnerships with higher education institutions.

In terms of technology, Natixis is strongly committed to digitalisation and artificial intelligence, automating repetitive processes and freeing up teams for more strategic functions. At the same time, it is strengthening its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility through projects such as Climate School, My Green Footprint, and Natixis Urban Garden, initiatives that aim to raise awareness and involve the entire internal community.

Milestone after milestone, the company has consolidated its presence in Porto: in 2018, it officially opened its IT Centre of Excellence; in 2020, it reached 1,000 employees; and in 2022, it opened its "Villages" and exceeded 2,000 employees. In 2023, turnover reached around €133 million, confirming the relevance of the Porto operation in the global context.

With its eyes on the future, Natixis intends to continue growing in the city, bringing new areas of expertise and strengthening Porto as a technology banking cluster. At the same time, it is committed to contributing to local employability by creating training and talent development opportunities.
