42, a local programming school, was named the 3rd most innovative university in the world in the WURI (World University Rankings for Innovation) 2025 ranking, ahead of prestigious institutions such as MIT, Stanford, Harvard, or Cambridge.

Established in Porto since 2022, 42 offers free programming training and has established itself as a disruptive and inclusive educational model, centered on autonomy, collaboration, and practical problem-solving.

This year, the Municipality of Porto has stepped up its support for the project with a new contract signed with Associação 101010 Portugal - the entity responsible for running the school - worth €250,000.

With more than 1,200 students enrolled in 2024 and an employability rate of 100%, 42 is preparing to launch four new editions of the "Piscine: Introduction to Programming” intensive course. These courses, which are free of charge and aimed at those looking for professional retraining or a qualified entry into the tech sector, will be able to accommodate between 800 and 1,000 participants, with special attention to people outside the labour market or in socially vulnerable situations.

"More than just a position in a ranking, this recognition confirms something we feel every day: that it is possible to build a disruptive, inclusive and transformative teaching model with great success,” stresses Pedro Santa Clara, Founder of 42. "What matters most to us is the impact this school is having on the lives of hundreds of young people in Portugal,” he adds.

42 is the only institution in Portugal among the 400 recognized by WURI 2025, which assesses the degree of innovation, social relevance, and employability of universities at a global level.
